This is a thing I do every season to recommend you just ONE Anime every Season.
Anime of this Season:
Shokugeki no Soma: Ni no Sara
[English Title: Food Wars! The Second Plate]
I had a tough time making a choice this season. There’s Re: Zero going on, there’s Mob Psycho 100 going on, and there’s more! But in the end, Shokugeki no Soma was a clear winner after I saw it’s latest episode. Re: Zero is also amazing but I couldn’t recommend it since it began airing before this season and got much much better in later episodes. And Mob Psycho 100 on the other hand uses pretty basic humour and a straight forward storyline with not so pretty animations, in my opinion. This doesn’t mean they aren’t good, it’s just that I can’t recommend them over Food Wars, this season. Don’t miss out on Re:Zero, it’s an amazing Anime in itself, too!
Why this Anime?
It’s amazing! Every episode you watch just leaves you asking for more! Do note that this is the second season of the Anime and you must watch the first one titled “Shokugeki no Soma” before watching this one. I’m gonna tell you why this Anime is on my top list this Season in 5 main points like usual:
- Simple yet amazing plotline
- Interesting characters. Every character leaves a mark on you and doesn’t allow you to forget them.
- Awesome and genuine dishes. You can follow the recipes and end up making the exact dishes which taste equally good in real life!
- SHOKUGEKI! You’ll understand what this word means when you watch the anime and whenever a character says it, you’ll get fired up. Every. Single. Time.
- Humour involved in a unique way. This anime has many “foodgasm” moments which mostly act as humorous scenes and sometimes they are quite funny even though that’s not the main genre of this Anime.
Anime similar to Shokugeki no Soma are Ben-To, Koufuku Graffiti and Toriko. Even though these Anime are similar, they are very different in their own ways.
Now that I’ve told you about it, the only thing left for you to do is to go watch it’s season 1 and then dig right in on the 2nd plate! Or, read the details below I got from MAL:
The second season of Shokugeki no Souma. Ever since he was a child, fifteen-year-old Souma Yukihira has helped his father by working as the sous chef in the restaurant his father runs and owns. Throughout the years, Souma developed a passion for entertaining his customers with his creative, skilled, and daring culinary creations. His dream is to someday own his family’s restaurant as its head chef.
Yet when his father suddenly decides to close the restaurant to test his cooking abilities in restaurants around the world, he sends Souma to Tootsuki Culinary Academy, an elite cooking school where only 10 percent of the students graduate. The institution is famous for its “Shokugeki” or “food wars,” where students face off in intense, high-stakes cooking showdowns.
As Souma and his new schoolmates struggle to survive the extreme lifestyle of Tootsuki, more and greater challenges await him, putting his years of learning under his father to the test.[Written by MAL Rewrite]
